The worry of rising petrol and diesel prices is going to end soon as India's first flex-fuel engine car is about to be introduced. This Toyota is being built by Kirloskar Motor and will be presented by Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on September 28, 2022.
For information, let us tell you that in June last year itself, Gadkari had indicated to make flex-fuel vehicles mandatory in the country and said that this would help the farmers as well as strengthen the Indian economy.
Information is given at the address of ACMA
In his address at the 62nd annual session of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), Gadkari said that 35 percent of pollution in India is caused by fossil fuel-powered vehicles. Therefore alternative fuels like ethanol should be developed which are indigenous, cost-effective, and pollution free.
"Like in Brazil, Canada, and the US, I have been appealing to the automobile industry to introduce flex engine vehicles in India and I am going to launch Toyota's flex engine car in Delhi on 28th of this month," he said.
The government is working on a big plan
In 2020 itself, the government revealed its plan regarding the flex fuel engine. According to the plan, the country has set a target of 10 percent ethanol blending by 2022 and 20 percent ethanol blending by 2030. However, this was later changed to a target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol by 2025.
Recently a car with green hydrogen was also inaugurated
For information, let us tell you that in March this year, the Transport Minister also launched the green hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai car. This car fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) runs on hydrogen and is completely environmentally friendly.
Apart from this, a few days ago, a truck running on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was also detonated. Talking about this, Gadkari said, "Just fifteen days ago, I launched a (liquefied natural gas) truck in Pune. Today, I got an invitation from Mercedes to launch my electric car in Pune."
