According to local media, the blast took place at around 4:50 pm (local time), after which more than 11 fire brigade teams are doing relief and rescue work by reaching the spot. The injured have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to media reports, a bus parked on the roadside was also damaged due to the explosion in the building. Local police officer Bachu Miya has told that so far more than 45 people have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Two women are among the 14 dead. The treatment of the injured is going on.
According to Dhaka police, the building where the explosion took place has several stores on the ground floor and a branch of BRAC bank next to it. It is being told that the explosion took place in a store selling sanitation materials on the ground floor.
