Team India won the first series of the year by 2-1, beat Sri Lanka by 91 runs in the third T20
India has given Sri Lanka a target of 229 runs to win the third T20 match. Team India scored 228 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Suryakumar remained unbeaten after scoring 112 runs off 51 balls. He hit seven fours and nine sixes. His strike rate was 219.61.
The third T20 match between India and Sri Lanka was played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. In this match, India defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 91 runs with the help of explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant century. With this victory, India won the series 2-1. Sri Lanka performed brilliantly in this series but lost the last match and lost their chance to win the T20I series for the first time in India.
Sri Lanka got the only win in this series in the second match played in Pune. In this match, Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Team India scored 228 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In response, Sri Lanka's team was reduced to 137 runs in 16.4 overs. None of the Sri Lankan batsmen appeared in rhythm and wickets kept falling one after the other.
For India, Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 112 off 51 balls. Shubman Gill contributed 46 and Rahul Tripathi contributed 35 runs. Dilshan Madushanka took two wickets for Sri Lanka. Kushal Mendis and captain Dasun Shanaka scored 23-23 runs in batting for the Lankan team. Arshdeep Singh took the maximum of three wickets for India. Hardik Pandya, Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal got two successes each. Akshar Patel took one wicket to his name.
Now a series of three ODIs will be played between the two teams. The first match will be held in Guwahati on January 10. The second match will be played on January 12 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After this, the last match of the series will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on 15th January.
