Strong winds in North India after rain and snowfall, heavy fog in these states including Rajasthan
Weather Update: The rains that have been going on for the last two days in the northwestern parts of the country including Delhi may reduce. Today, dense fog was seen in many states including Rajasthan. At the same time, due to the effect of the Western Disturbance, light to heavy rain and snowfall are likely to continue in the hilly areas of the Western Himalayas.
After a few days of respite in North India, once again the cold has increased. Due to the snowfall in the mountains, the icy winds in the plains have given chills to the people. After rain and snowfall, now the havoc of fog is being seen. Tremendous fog covered many states including Delhi, and Rajasthan on Tuesday. Dense fog reduced visibility to 50 metres. Under the influence of Western Disturbance, light to heavy rain and snowfall are likely to continue in the hilly areas of the Western Himalayas.
In Rajasthan, rain along with winter has worsened the situation. With the continuous cloud cover in the sky, many districts are wrapped in a sheet of dense fog. The cold wave has once again increased the chill. The first dense fog of this season has been seen in the state. Due to the cold people are avoiding coming out of their homes. The Meteorological Department says that the Western Disturbance has become active in most parts of the state, after which the rains will continue for the next 24 hours. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in many districts.
Due to the cold wave in Udaipur, till January 31, a holiday has been declared in all the schools up to class 5th. For the last 2 days, the weather is changing continuously in Rajasthan, where it is raining in many parts of the state due to the activation of two consecutive Western Disturbances. On the other hand, crops have also suffered heavy losses.
Heavy snowfall has thrown life out of gear in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Fresh snowfall on Monday affected road and air traffic. The heavy snowfall forced the closure of several highways and other roads. The power supply was also disrupted in many areas in these hilly states. A Snowdrift alert has been issued in some areas of Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal.
The Meteorological Department said that heavy rain is expected in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai districts and Karaikal region of Tamil Nadu.
