'Slave now free, Amethi was earlier', Smriti Irani taunts Rahul Gandhi and Congress
Smriti Irani on Ghulam Nabi Azad Resignation: After the resignation of senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, on one hand, the Congress is getting caught in its internal problems and on the other hand BJP is seizing this opportunity. In the latest case, BJP leader Smriti Irani has taken a jibe at Rahul Gandhi and Congress over Azad's resignation.
Union Minister Smriti Irani, while reacting to the resignation of senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, has taken a jibe at Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He said in his parliamentary constituency Amethi that slaves have become free now, but Amethi had become independent only 3 years ago. After this he said that the Congress leaders themselves are commenting on the Gandhi family and the party, so I do not need to add anything to it.
Smriti Irani had arrived in Amethi to inaugurate the dry Bajgarh Amrit Sarovar. During this conversation with the media, he took a jibe at Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He said, "Congress's own leadership is commenting on the Gandhi family, so we need not add anything to it. Ghulam Nabi Azad sahib has become 'azaad' now, but Amethi became independent long ago."
Congress is going through a difficult phase right now. Big leaders like Kapil Sibal, Ashwin Kumar and now Ghulam Nabi Azad have left the party.
After this, Smriti Irani said that the difference between earlier Amethi and today's Amethi is clear, earlier people used to consider the power here as their fiefdom, but today in Amethi there is a sense of service, not power.
Significantly, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP leader Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi from the Amethi parliamentary seat. Amethi has been the traditional seat of the Gandhi family, represented by leaders such as Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
