Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi will become cabinet ministers, CM Kejriwal sent names to Delhi LG for approval
Following the resignations of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, CM Arvind Kejriwal proposed the appointment of two cabinet ministers to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Sent to Saxena. Just waiting for permission.
Both Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Minister Satyendar Jain, caught in the clutches of the CBI, resigned from their respective posts on Tuesday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accepted the resignation of both his special ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain with immediate effect. Now the shortage of ministers is coming to the fore in the Delhi cabinet. According to sources, to bridge the gap, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has nominated AAP MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi to become ministers in the cabinet to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Sent to Saxena. And it is awaited that, if Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena approves it, then Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi should be given the responsibility of cabinet ministers. Till the cabinet allows inducting of new ministers, it has been decided to hand over their portfolios to two cabinet colleagues Kailash Gehlot and Raj Kumar Anand. Manish Sisodia used to handle 18 departments. The responsibility of eight departments, including Finance and PWD, has been given to Kailash Gehlot, while the responsibility of the remaining ten departments, including education and health, has been given to Raj Kumar Anand. After getting the new responsibility, both ministers will now have 14 departments each.
Kailash Gehlot was already handling six portfolios. These include law, justice and legislative affairs, transport, administrative reforms, information technology, revenue and women and child development. Rajkumar Anand was the minister for four departments - Gurdwara Elections, SC-ST, Social Welfare and Cooperative. Gopal Rai handles three portfolios - Development, General Administration Department and Environment, Forest and Wildlife. Imran Hussain has the responsibility of two portfolios – food supply and elections.
The resignations of two jailed ministers of the Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, have been accepted by Delhi's Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena sent President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday. On the request of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, LG Saxena has recommended the approval of the President, after accepting the resignation of both will be accepted.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has been arrested by CBI in Delhi's New Excise Policy (2021-22) scam case. And on Monday, Rouse Avenue Court sent him to CBI remand till March 4. Health - Jail Minister Satyendar Jain was arrested on May 30 in a money laundering case. At present, he is lodged in Tihar Jail. Manish Sisodia holds 22 ministries including Education and PWD.
