RBI Governor Announces, Now NRIs Will Also Be Able To Pay Utility Bills
With the help of the Bharat Bill Pay system, NRIs will now be able to pay gas, water, and electricity bills and education fees on behalf of their family members residing in India.
The Reserve Bank of India on Friday said that NRIs will soon be able to pay utility bills with Bharat Bill Pay. With the help of the Bharat Bill Pay system, NRIs will now be able to pay gas, water, and electricity bills and education fees on behalf of their family members residing in India. Announcing the bi-monthly monetary policy, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that this will greatly benefit senior citizens. The central bank will soon issue necessary instructions in this regard.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that Bharat Bill Pay has changed the way of paying bills in India to a great extent. Now the proposal is to make this system ready for the incoming from abroad. He said that this would enable Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to pay bills on behalf of their families residing in India. This means that if your son or daughter lives abroad, they will be able to pay your bill.
What is Bharat Bill Payment System?
BBPS i.e. Bharat Bill Payment System is an integrated system of bill payment, which provides online bill payment service to the customers. This system works under the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Bharat Bill Pay System (BBPS) is a standard bill pay system. More than 20,000 billers are part of this system. More than 8 crore transactions are processed on this platform every month.
Which bills can be paid
You can pay bills for electricity, water, phone, gas, etc. with Bharat Bill Payment System. Along with this, insurance premium, mutual fund, school fees, credit card or FasTAG recharge, and housing society monthly or annual charges can also be paid. You can use Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI and Wallet, etc. to pay bills.
