The suspension bridge in Gujarat's Morbi has collapsed, due to which more than 400 people on the bridge are reported to have fallen into the river. More than 32 people are being reported to have died due to this accident. However, so far 7 people have been officially confirmed dead.
A major accident occurred due to the collapse of the suspension bridge in Morbi, Gujarat. Due to the sudden collapse of the bridge, a large number of people present have fallen into the river. Rescue operation is going on to save the people, in which local people are also helping the police administration. At the same time, 2 teams of NDRF have also left for the rescue work. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that the suspension bridge collapsed in Morbi at around 6:30 this evening, in which more than 150 people were present at that time. In this incident, the entire system of the city reached the spot in just 15 minutes. So far 70 people have been taken to the hospital in the rescue work.
According to media reports, renovation work was going on in this bridge, which was started 5 days ago. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi has reached the spot. Along with this, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has also left for Morbi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured help to the injured. The PMO tweeted that the Prime Minister has spoken to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, and "asked for immediate mobilization of teams for the rescue operation." Along with this, compensation has also been announced by PM Modi. Rs 2 lakh will be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in this accident and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
