December is going on and weather patterns are constantly changing. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert that there will be heavy rains in Tamil Nadu between 8-10 December. Along with this, strong winds will also blow. P. Senthamarai Kannan, director of the Regional Weather Forecasting Center Chennai, said that the northeast monsoon was not active in November. Because of this, there was less rainfall in the month of November. But the Meteorological Department estimates that this shortfall can be compensated in December. It is being told that due to the arrival of back-to-back weather systems over the Bay of Bengal, there will be heavy rainfall in the month of December. The IMD predicts that a low-pressure system may bring heavy rains and strong winds over North Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
According to meteorologists, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining south Andaman Sea by December 5. It is likely to turn into a depression by December 7. And it is very likely to move west-northwestwards and reach north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry areas.
The director of the Regional Weather Forecasting System said that the IMD has also predicted rain in the next 48 hours. According to the weather alert, a cyclonic storm may hit Tamil Nadu. Because since year 2016 every December there is a cyclonic storm in Tamil Nadu.
