Then their prices increased by about Rs 10 per litre, due to which inflation reached its peak.
After September last year, the market for diesel was faster than that for petrol. From a commercial point of view, it is costlier to make diesel than petrol, but in the open market of India, petrol is sold costlier and diesel is sold cheaper. The diesel fire which started here on September 24 last year, stopped after the reduction in excise duty. Diesel had become costlier by about Rs 9.45 from September till Diwali.
Petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 and diesel is Rs 89.62 per litre, petrol in Mumbai is Rs 111.35 and diesel is Rs 97.28 per litre, petrol is Rs 106.03 and diesel is Rs 92.76 per litre in Kolkata, petrol is Rs 102.63 and diesel is Rs 92.76 in Chennai. The price reached Rs 94.24 per litre.
