The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is raiding the residence of Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and minister in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's government, Gangula Kamalakar, in connection with a case related to illegal mining and money laundering. According to media reports, at present, Minister Gangula Kamalakar is in Dubai with his family outside the country. Kamalakar is the TRS MLA from Karimnagar constituency, who is the Minister of the Backward Classes Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies Department in the state.
According to a news agency, ED officials are conducting raids in connection with a granite company allegedly involved in an illegal mining case. Along with this, it is being claimed in some media reports that this raid is being done in connection with illegal mining as well as money laundering.
This action of the Enforcement Directorate against the minister of TRS, the party in power in Telangana, may start a new confrontation between BJP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Earlier, after the action of ED in Jharkhand, the political temperature increased. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has challenged the arrest of the ED while taking out a protest march against the ED. Apart from this, he has targeted the BJP regarding the action of ED.
There is also a war between Chief Minister KCR's party and the BJP over the allegation that the BJP, which is in power at the Centre, has tried to bribe four TRS MLAs to switch sides. The allegation is going on between the two parties regarding this. On the other hand, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's party on Monday announced to change its name from Telangana Rashtra Samithi to Bharat Rashtra Samithi, for which public notice has been issued by the party.
