'Kantara' has become the highest-rated Indian film on IMDB. The film currently has a rating of 9.4 on IMDB, the highest for any Indian film to date. The film has surpassed all other Indian blockbusters in this list including 'RRR', 'Ambe Shivam', and 'Jai Bheem' Suriya's Soorarai Pottru. Recently the film has also been released in Hindi.
'Kantara' has been in the news since its release. It has been appreciated not only by the critics but also by the audience. The film is set to create history for Kannada cinema. On November 1, it will become the first Kannada film to be screened in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The screening of the film will reportedly take place at the prestigious Institut d'Eschange Cultural vec la in Ho Chi Minh City, France. Members of the Indian Business Chamber and consulate officials in Vietnam have also been invited. The idea is to promote the language and culture of Karnataka.
This attempt to screen a Kannada film in the capital of Vietnam has been possible because of the NRIs there. In fact, the Kannada diaspora has taken this initiative this year to celebrate the foundation day of Mysore on November 1. On this day, in 1956, the state of Mysore was formed. Later in 1973, its name was changed to Karnataka. 'Kantara' has also become the first Kannada film to earn the highest at the box office.
