DGP Dilbag Singh described the incident as extremely unfortunate. He said that a search operation has been launched to nab the servant. Dilbag Singh told that the accused tried to burn the body of Hemant's Lohia. Police officials also reached the spot regarding the murder and started an investigation into the matter.

According to the police, a preliminary investigation at the scene of the incident revealed that Lohia was first murdered. A ketchup bottle was used to slit his throat. He made several blows on the stomach and side with a broken glass bottle. He was found in the house in a bloodied condition.

Jammu ADGP Mukesh Singh said that the body of Hemant Lohia DG Jail was found under suspicious circumstances. In the first investigation of the crime scene, it seems to be a suspicious case of murder. The domestic servant of the officer is absconding and is being searched. The forensic team and crime team are investigating the spot.

Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh expressed grief over the death of DG Jail. He said that the J&K Police family expresses deep grief over the death of their senior officer. The 1992 batch IPS officer was posted as DG Jail in August this year.
