Mayawati said that the theft of an elephant statue from the memorial of saints of Dalit society Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Social Change Sthal (Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal) is a matter of shame and concern.

BSP Chief Mayawati has expressed concern over the theft of an elephant statue from the site of social change. He tweeted that in the respect of the great saints, gurus, and great men born in the neglected, despised, Dalit, and other backward classes in the country, the BSP government had built a grand Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar social transformation site. BSP chief Mayawati further wrote in the tweet that the neglect being done in the protection and maintenance of the grand sites and monuments built by the BSP government earlier in the SP and now in the BJP government is a matter of great concern. Whereas, these places are a source of tourism income. The work being done at Manya Shrikanshi Ramji memorial site and many other places is also going on very sluggishly. The government should pay attention to this.

According to the information, this elephant statue was installed in a fountain in Budh Vihar Park built on the Gomti River Front, which has now been stolen. No one other than the security personnel is allowed to enter the place from where the theft took place.

In this case, Gautampalli police have registered a report on the complaint of security personnel Niyaz Ahmed. The weight of the stolen idol is about two to three kilos. According to the police, the investigation is being done on all the facts from the employees posted there. ADCP Central Zone Raghavendra Mishra has been directed to investigate the matter seriously.
