First meeting of G-20 in Kolkata: The first meeting of the G-20 is being held in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, from today till January 11. Representatives from 19 countries including India will participate in this meeting. The first meeting of the G-20 will begin on Monday at the Vishwa-Bangla Convention Center in New Town.
The first meeting of G20 under the chairmanship of India is going to start today in Kolkata, the capital of Bengal. Several discussion sessions and meetings will be organized during the three-day meeting to be held from January 9 to 11. Representatives from 19 countries including India will participate in it. The representative of the European Union will also attend the conference as a member. Kolkata is being decorated for the meeting and preparations are now in the final stage.
The meeting will be held at the Vishwa Bangla Convention Center in Newtown, Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The meeting discussed ways to improve the financial system infrastructure, put forward policies conducive to the use of emerging technologies, facilitate remittance flows, reduce the cost of remittance transfers, financial literacy and consumer protection, digital financial literacy and more among others. Topics such as bridging the digital divide will be discussed.
Guests from India and abroad have started arriving in Kolkata to attend the G-20 International Conference. Before that Tilottama has been decorated afresh. In this meeting, apart from the representatives of 19 countries, 60-65 representatives of the IMF, Union Ministry of Finance, NABARD, various banks and financial institutions will also participate in the meeting.
The streets have been decorated for the first meeting of the G-20 in Kolkata. Especially the area around the convention centre, EM Bypass and New Town roads leading into the city from Kolkata airport has been decorated. Huge billboards bearing G20 symbols have been put up along the road to welcome the guests.
