Delhi Mayor elections will be held on February 22 at 11 am, LG approves CM Kejriwal's proposal
Delhi MCD Mayor Election Delhi Mayor's election will be held on February 22 at 11 am. CM Arvind Kejriwal approved the proposal by the Deputy Governor.
The date of the Delhi Mayor election has been announced. Now on February 22 at 11 am the election of the Delhi Mayor will be held. And voting will have to be done for this. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sent a proposal to hold elections on February 22 to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. And Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena gave his assent to this proposal. On the Delhi Mayor election, the Supreme Court has issued an order that notice should be issued within 24 hours for the first meeting for the election of the mayor. The date of the mayoral election and other elections should be mentioned in the notice. Based on this, CM Kejriwal has sent a proposal to Delhi LG. The Supreme Court has also ordered that 10 councillors (aldermen) nominated by the governor will not be able to vote in the mayoral election. After approving the proposal of LG Saheb, now on February 22 the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee will be elected.
The election of the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has not been successful in three meetings. From the oath of councillors to the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee, it has to be done in a single meeting. As a rule, the election of the mayor and deputy mayor takes place in the first house after the body elections. But two and a half months have passed since the municipal elections. And Delhi is yet to get a major. The first meeting for the mayor was called on January 6, then the second meeting on January 24 and within a month the third meeting was called on February 6. But the elections had to be postponed due to the uproar among BJP and Aam Aadmi Party members in these meetings.
The Delhi MCD election result came on 7th December 2022 only. In the MCD elections, AAP won 134 seats and BJP won 104 seats. With this victory of AAP, 15 years of BJP's rule in Delhi MCD came to an end.
