Jodhpur : A court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued an arrest warrant against Krishna Poonia, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Rajasthan. Poonia is being investigated in connection with the suicide of CI Vishnudutt Vishnoi.
The CBI court has taken this step as Poonia did not appear before the agency for questioning despite being summoned multiple times. The MLA had been asked to appear before the CBI in connection with the ongoing investigation into the suicide case.
Poonia, who is a member of the Indian National Congress (Congress), has denied any wrongdoing in the case. She has alleged that the case is politically motivated and that she is being targeted by her opponents.
The suicide case of CI Vishnudutt Vishnoi dates back to 2019 when he was found dead in Jodhpur. Vishnoi was investigating a case of alleged bribery in the police department when he died.
The CBI had taken over the investigation of the case from the Rajasthan Police in 2020. The agency has since then questioned several individuals in connection with the case, including some high-profile politicians and police officers.
