BCCI appoints Mallika Sagar as auctioneer for WPL auction

Women's Premier League: The first auction of women players under the Women's Premier League 2023 will begin in Mumbai on Monday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has roped in female auctioneer Mallika Sagar to conduct the auction process. The auction will begin at 2.30 pm at Jasmine Hall-1, Jio World Convention Centre.

The first auction of women players under the Women's Premier League 2023 will begin in Mumbai on Monday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has roped in a woman auctioneer to conduct the auction process. Mallika Sagar, a Mumbai-based art collector advisor and partner in the Art India Consultants firm for modern and contemporary Indian art, will oversee the auction, reports Cricbuzz. Mallika, who auctioned Pundole in Mumbai, auctioned the 2021 Pro Kabaddi League.
It has been reported in the report that the BCCI has also informed the five teams that they have to take at least 15 players in the team. While the minimum expenditure should be Rs 9 crore. They will have Rs 12 crore in the purse, with each side being allowed to buy only six overseas players. Let us tell you that a total of 409 players will be bid in the WPL player auction, out of which 246 are Indian cricketers and 163 are foreign players, out of which 8 are from associate countries.
The players will be presented in sets based on their specialization, marquee players, batsmen, all-rounders, wicket-keepers, fast bowlers, spin bowlers and emerging players. The players for the auction have been divided into five different slabs of the base price. Rs.50 lakh, Rs.40 lakh, Rs.30 lakh, Rs.20 lakh and Rs.10 lakh.
Let us tell you that India's captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, all-rounder Deepti Sharma, Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup winning captain Shafali Verma, Australia's leading all-rounder Ellyse Perry, England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, New Zealand captain Sophie Devine and former Captain West Indies' Deandra Dottin is among the players with the highest base price.
It has been told that the auction will start at 2.30 pm at Jasmine Hall-1 Jio World Convention Center. A day before the auction, the BCCI will conduct a pre-auction briefing for the franchisees at 8 pm on Sunday.
