This decision has been taken in the ongoing BJP National Executive meeting in Delhi. The one-year extension of JP Nadda's term means that the 2024 election will be fought under Nadda's leadership. Announcing the extension of JP Nadda's tenure by one year, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the National Executive has made a proposal for JP Nadda today, Rajnath Singh has made this proposal. Which has been accepted by all the members of the BJP. JP Nadda's term as BJP President is being extended till June 2024.
Citing the reason for extending the term of JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah said that this year is the year of the membership drive. Last year this campaign could not be conducted due to Corona. The party is moving forward under the leadership of Nadda. In such a situation, the decision to extend his tenure for one year was taken unanimously.
Amit Shah further said that the BJP's performance was good during Nadda's tenure. The party won many states. The stature of the Bharatiya Janata Party increased in states like Bengal-Telangana. Nadda kept the party workers engaged even in an odd situation like Corona. In such a situation, everyone has accepted the leadership of Nadda. Amit Shah said I am confident that in 2024, under the leadership of Modi and Nadda, the BJP will again come to power with a majority.
There was already speculation about the extension of Nadda's tenure. Which was confirmed today in the National Executive meeting in Delhi. Under Nadda's leadership, the BJP won a landslide victory in Gujarat. BJP's stature increased in Maharashtra, Karnataka. The party may have gone out of power in Bihar. But at one point in time, BJP became the largest party in the state.
Assembly elections are to be held in 9 states in 2023 and Lok Sabha elections in 2024. In such a situation, BJP has extended the tenure of Nadda.
