Mafia don Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, the main accused in the Umeshpal murder case of Prayagraj, have been brought to Prayagraj. On Tuesday, March 28, both of them have an appearance in the MP-MLA court of Prayagraj. It is being claimed that the court will give its verdict in this case on Tuesday. In this, Atiq and Ashraf can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment. Let us know what happened 17 years ago. Because of this today Atiq and his brother Ashraf have reached life imprisonment or hanging.
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf have been brought from Sabarmati and Bareilly jails for appearance in the case. That 17-year-old case pertains to the kidnapping of Umeshpal, the witness of Rajupal's murder case. It is being said that under the sections that have been imposed in this case, Atiq and Ashraf can get the biggest punishment i.e. hanging or even life imprisonment.
Umesh Pal was abducted on 28 February 2006. Umesh lodged an FIR, in this case, a year after his abduction when the BSP came to power in the state. On Umesh's complaint, the police registered a case under serious sections against Atiq, Ashraf and his close ones. Umesh had alleged that he was abducted and taken to Ateeq's office in Chakia, Prayagraj. There is also a torture room in Atiq's office. The police believe that Umesh was taken hostage at the same place. From there he was badly beaten.
After being beaten and threatened in the office all night after the abduction, an affidavit was taken from Umesh that he was not at the spot during the Raju Pal murder case. Not only this, along with the affidavit, on the second day on March 1, Atiq's close relatives took Umesh Pal and presented him in court. There Umesh testified that he was putting the affidavit in his senses. He testified at the trial that he was not present at the time of the Raju Pal murder case. After this Umesh was released.
Then the discussion spread in Prayagraj that Umesh had met Atiq. Although the government changed in the state and Mayawati became the Chief Minister, on July 5, 2007, Umesh filed a case in the Dhumanganj police station alleging that he was kidnapped, taken hostage and forced to prepare an affidavit and testify.
In the Umesh Pal kidnapping case, Atiq and his accomplices have been charged under sections 147, 148, 149, 323, 341, 504, 506, 342, 364, 34, 120B of the Indian Penal Code and the Seventh Criminal Penal Law Amendment Act. Among these, Section 364A of IPC is the biggest. It provides for punishment for kidnapping. District Government Advocate Gulabchand Agrahari said that the maximum punishment under this is a death sentence or life imprisonment and a fine.
